A new feature will be implemented by Google to will allow users to restrict advertising related to alcohol and gambling if they do not want to see them.
The functionality will be gradually rolled out to consumers, starting with YouTube Advertising in the US, and then Google is gradually planning to launch this internationally in early 2021 for Google Ads and YouTube. No improvement in their policy can be seen by countries with legal prohibitions on serving gambling and alcohol advertising.
The company said in a blog post that it would have more controls for YouTube users to restrict advertising on sensitive topics such as gambling. For this, a new feature is introduced in Ad Settings that allows users to restrict targeted ads for certain topics.
“We have received feedback that some individuals would like to restrict advertising in some categories, such as gambling, so today we are introducing a new control in Ad Settings, allowing individuals to see less advertisements for gambling as an additional choice,” Google said.
